Stories of feeding teenage boys are legendary. But feeding teenage athletes - both male and female! - challenges those stories to a whole new level. As a fellow parent of a teenage athlete - I share your exhaustion at the constant demand for food!
My son is a cyclist. When he was selected into the State Team at 15, his nutrition needs became a focus in our home. As a nutritionist, I took a deep dive into sports nutrition and how to provide the very best nutrients for him.
What I came to understand is two things:
1) nutrition for sports people is more than what to eat (although that is very important), it is also about when to eat; and
2) teenage athletes need different nutritional requirements than adult athletes.
Once I’d discovered the what and the when, I needed to work out the how - because getting the right nutrients in at the right time was a whole new challenge!
My goal is to share my knowledge and experience so that YOU can fast track and get on with providing your teen with the nutrients they need to perform at their best and reach their athletic potential.
Here you will find articles about sports nutrition to help you help your sporty teen to reach their full athletic potential.
I've been where you are. I remember the overwhelm. I know what it takes to support a teenage athlete. As mummas we are right there with them, feeling the emotional toll, taking responsibility for the physical needs, and supporting them every step of the way. It's intense. I know.
I got you mumma.
